If you Drive a Motorcycle, You Need Motorcycle Insurance

Automobile insurance is very important. Most people know this and understand this. Insurance is meant to protect you, your property as well as other people and other property that you may damage in an accident. There are different kinds of insurance that cover different things but even the mot basic insurance is better than none at all.

Since insurance is so important to motor vehicles, you should also know that it is important to motorcycle riders as well. More and more people are filling the roads with motorcycles. It is a great, fast way to travel. Many people enjoy the open road and the freedom. Many people find it cheaper than driving a car. Whatever the reasons for driving one, if you have a motorcycle, you need motorcycle insurance.

The good news is that more and more auto insurance companies are offering coverage to motorcycles now so it is not as hard or as expensive to get insurance. You can find free quotes from many common auto insurance companies.

You can get quotes online from many places like Progressive. Types of motorcycle coverage vary by state so you will have to look it up for your state to know exactly what kind of insurance is available to you and required by law.

Your coverage can also vary according to how your motorcycle is classified, just like with automobiles. There are cruisers, limited production cruisers, street sports, high performance, touring and more types. How your motorcycle classifies will affect your insurance as well as the other factors.

Your driving record can also affect your rates. There are some states that do not offer motorcycle insurance such as Massachusetts, Washington DC and New Jersey. You must check with the laws in your area. Most insurance companies can tell you the laws for your state if you do not know.

Some Incredible Harleys Were Introduced From 1964 to 1966

During the years between 1964 and 1966, Harley Davidson really built some great motorcycles that had some really impressive features that consumers have continued to enjoy. The 1964 Harley-Davidson XLCH Sportster motorcycle's impressive 883-cc V-twin engine out-powered most competitors during that era. The 1965 Harley-Davidson FL Electra-Glide motorcycle was the last Harley fitted with the venerable pan-head engine and the first big Harley with an electric start, which made this combo a highly coveted collectible. For Harley Davidson, 1965 marked the end of an era.

The Electra-Glide, with its electric starter, made its debut, but it would be the last year for the famous pan-head V-twin that was introduced in 1948. That engine had received some modifications over the years, a significant one coming in 1963 with external oil lines that improved lubrication to the cylinder heads. Along with the electric starter came the twelve-volt electrics to replace the previous six-volt system, which in turn brought a bigger battery hidden beneath a large battery case on the right side. That, along with the bold "Electra Glide" script on the front fender, makes it easy to distinguish this model from earlier FLs.

Some Electra-Glides had the standard exhaust system that had both cylinders exhausting to the right into a single muffler. This was optional as a dual-muffler system where the exhaust from the front cylinder exited to the right, while that from the rear cylinder exited to the left, both terminating in their own distinctive "fishtail" muffler. Also optional was the old hand-shift and foot-clutch arrangement that was so popular with police departments. Though a curb weight of more than seven hundred pounds restricted performance somewhat, the Electra-Glide was a popular touring mount in its day, as the electric starter alleviated the problem of having to kick start the big V-twin, which had become no easy task.

The 1966 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra-Glide motorcycle's smoother-running, more powerful shovel-head engine replaced the pan-head engine, which gave this motorcycle sixty horsepower. In 1965, Harley-Davidson introduced an electric-start version of the big FL series, dubbing it the Electra-Glide, which was still powered by the pan-head engine. This big Harley was now carrying not only the additional weight of the inevitable factory and owner installed accessories, which made it more plentiful by a switch from six-volt electrics to twelve volt, but also the pounds added by the new starting hardware.

Although the pan-head engine had served well during its lengthy tenure, owners were begging for more power. For 1966, Harley released an updated version of the 74-cubic-inch V-twin by mating new aluminum shovel-head cylinder heads to the iron barrels, horsepower increased by five. The smoother, running, more powerful shovel-head engine was a welcome relief. The weight of the FLs had crept up to nearly eight hundred pounds, and the extra power was appreciated by owners. Yet, despite the greater power and escalating heft, FLs were still slowed by drum brakes front and rear; it would not be until 1972 that a front disc would appear.

If you are fond of driving, you should also see to it that you are wearing the right outfit, one that would make you feel safe and one that would give you the look you desire. They are not only used today, even before the old times; many are already hooked on it for they find it simple but very cosy. This line of clothing is also good for any kind of weather and any hazardous environmental conditions.

The very purpose of these is to give the rider the ample protection he needs while driving. These clothes can best compliment when drivers are wearing the right helmets, together with their trousers and quality boots, as if you own the road when you are dressed up perfectly from head to foot.

The motorcycle leather jackets are actually worn for the armor worth, which can help someone to be protected from unexpected falls, crash or accidents on the road. One can't predict that an accident may happen that is why it is an accident and if you are not wearing any protective wear, for sure, you will be severely wounded or worst, you will be dead. Do you want these things to happen to you by just ignoring the right outfit or gear? Hopefully, you are not.

Way back in the history of these jackets, they were invented in the year 1946 and were formally introduced by Marlon Brando in his famous" Wild One." How to Choose Your First Motorcycle?

Motorcycles come in many types and brands so it can be complicated for someone who is just starting out in the bike world. Let me share some ideas to help you choose. Let me start by saying: yes that super sonic sport engine does look great! But when you just got your drivers license and think it over you should agree that it is not a good rookies bike. So what is a good starter motorcycle? Here are a few issues to check:

First of all you want to think about what you plan to do with your motorcycle. This is primarily based on your pursuits: would you like a bike for speed? Then it is obvious you are looking for a sport motor. Are you planning on making long trips on your motorbike? When you go for this option then you definitely want a bike made for traveling and comfort. It should have compartments to carry your belongings when you travel. A third possibility is riding cross country. The motorcycles you are looking for are specifically designed for riding through dirt and bumpy terrain. And last but not least: in case you are looking for a quick method to move through the traffic jam in the city the best option is a scooter.

After you decided on the main type of model you should think about the riding experience of the bikes you prefer. I know it sound strange but first time riders often choose a motorcycle which is to small or large, which will give back pain on the longer rides. In case you are hesitating go to your local dealer and test it. It is ought to suit your body good. One of the simplest ways to decide if a motorbike fits you is to take a seat on the bike while it stands on the kickstand. Are you able to touch the floor with both feet? If so great, if not, then it is advisable to search for an other bike that is less tall. Are you able to put your hands on the handle bars easily? And the brakes and the turn indicators? Other issues to consider are: the sound and type of engine.

A vital facet you have to take into account when searching for the right bike is the price. You want one that's going to fit into your budget. In case you are new to bike riding, go for a lower priced motorbike or a used one. You do not wish to risk falling with an extremely costly new bike due to lack of experience, scratching it up or having expensive repairs from tipping the bike over? And belief me, when you are a new rider this can be a large danger! You may always buy your dream motorbike a year later once you have gained a bit more experience. Other questions you need to ask your self are: How much are you able to afford? Do you want to take a loan to pay for a motorbike? Are you able to miss the month-to-month payment?

This are some of the basic things to look for in a motorcycle and you should make a decision on it before you even begin taking a look at motorcycles.
